Today
Today was a productive day. We got Rachel's swing set for her birthday. Let me explain the entire process...
The swing set that we finally agreed on is called the Little Tikes Clubhouse Swing Set. It wasn't too big to fit in our yard (which is actually quite small) but it was what we were looking for...a slide and 2 swings (to accommodate our growing family). Anyway, I originally found it on Toys R Us but beside it was "Out of Stock." Brice looked for it on Walmart.com...they had it but it was more expensive. Toys R Us was $399.99 and Walmart was $429. So...we looked other places and they were all out of stock. I kept the swing set in a walmart.com shopping cart for a few days and kept the browser open on the computer. We browsed other options but we both agreed that we really liked this one. Yesterday, out of sheer curiosity, I went back to the Toys R Us website and it said "In Stock." I was excited...it was $50 cheaper there than Walmart. Here was the catch....Walmart.com would ship it to our house for $169.00 - RIDICULOUS you say??? I did too...but wait....Toys R Us would ship it for $269.00!!!!! I was floored! Are you kidding me???!! Thus, making the one at Toys R Us more expensive now. I had pretty much decided to buy it from Walmart.com when I thought to call our local Toys R Us to see if they might have it in stock...I was not hopeful.
After about 20 minutes of being on hold, my local friendly Toys R Us confirmed that yes, they do have one, but ONLY one. They said that they would hold it for me for 24 hours. I told them to not knowing how or when I would be able to go get this thing. I called Brice to tell him the good news and start brainstorming about how we would get this, what I assumed would be, gigantic box to our house. We both drive cars! I am almost 5 months pregnant and I cannot lift my toddler, much less a swingset! Anyway, I was excited and a little determined. I figured it out....by going to Toys R Us and picking this up I would be saving $260....that's a lot of money to me! So...I asked around at church. Sure, people had trucks but these people work. BUT...our friends the Thomases came to our rescue!!!! Jack has a truck and would be available this afternoon.
After Rachel's nap we headed over to their house and Rachel played with Marilyn (who she calls Nana) and Jack and I went to pick up this HUMONGO box that has my baby's birthday present in it. I was so excited!!!! It is in the garage and ready for assembly. =)
One last note about the swing set....Krista calls me about 2 hours after I get home and says, "Um, this is going to make you nauseated but the Toys R Us catalog that I got in the mail today says that this swing set is going on sale on 10/26 for $349." Well, that's unfortunate but my thoughts are this....if I would have waited, it might not still be there on Sunday so I had to weight the options.....$50 off of what I paid or pay an extra $260 to have it shipped.....I am very glad that I have friends who look out for me....thanks, Krista!!
We also got Rachel's daybed delivered today. That's a project for this weekend, I bet...for Daddy...I have to work.
Last thing accomplished today....I finished Rachel's birthday invitations! I think they are super cute! I can't actually mail them until I pay my $75 to rent the park pavilion (which I will get done hopefully tomorrow) but here is a sneak peek for those that want to see it.....

She's going to love her new swinset!!!!
We have this swingset and we too saved on the shipping. Let me just tell you that it was several hours putting it together. Kinda difficult but very worth it. The kids love it.
