More Firsts!!

Rachel doesn't seem to be allergic to anything. I just couldn't bring myself to give her peas for breakfast so we tried bananas. SHE LOVED THEM!!!! I gave her a little taste of peaches and of applesauce...she gagged on both of them. I am not sure if it is just the tartness of them, but she couldn't get enough bananas! So, she has tried peas, sweet potatoes, bananas, applesauce, and peaches. She's a pro...let's just pray that she doesn't break out in a rash! I think I am more excited about Rachel trying new foods than she is. :)

I love watching Rachel day to day as she explores the world through her short, fat legs and chubby cheeks! She is growing so fast...I know I say that almost every post, but she is just changing so much. We have determined that she has her Daddy's nose and my mouth and although I hate to admit it, my big ole cheeks!!! She is just precious and I know I am biased, but she is a very good baby. God blessed us indeed! The past several days she has showed an interest in things that she hasn't before. She REALLY has wanted to be able to get to stuff, you can tell by the anticipation on her face...she just hasn't figured out how to reach her chubby little hands to grab things....UNTIL TODAY!!!! She loves to hold on to something while she is trying to go to sleep...bad habit to get into, I suppose, but it is too sweet when she rubs her face with her blankie. Anyway, I put a tiny stuffed Minnie Mouse on her chest and she picked it up with both hands and put it in her mouth. That kept her busy while I scrapbooked some in the same room. Then I gave her a teether and she was consistently reaching for it and putting it in her mouth (I wanted to make sure it wasn't an accident). She really is growing up!

These pictures are from this past week...until next time.....

That's My Girl!!

Well, I am just posting the proofs for Rachel's 3 month picture session. They turned out great! I love them!

She has been extremely fussy today for some reason. I think that the sweet potatoes may be giving her a tummy ache. She has been having a lot of gas recently. She has also been wanting to eat a lot today. Help us if she is hitting another growth spurt....she is already big enough for her age!!!!

Good Check-up

We had our 4-month checkup today and everything is great! We actually went to the doctor yesterday too with fever and diarrhea. Rachel's little friend, Chelsea has been in the hospital since Sunday with Rotavirus so we just wanted to make sure that Rachel was in the clear. Yesterday they did a flu test and urinalysis to check for any infections. No flu and the urine cultures should be back tomorrow. She weighed 17 lbs 4 oz! She's my big girl! She was of the charts in her weight. She was in the 97th percentile for length - 25 1/2 inches long and 75th percentile for head circumference. She has a little head, I guess! Anyway, the doctor said that she is still very proportionate in her height and length and is meeting all of her developmental milestones on time and early. She gave us the "go ahead" for baby food!!! We started today with sweet potatoes and she seemed to like them. I also am trying out a new formula - Enfamil Gentlease. It has been recommended for her spitting up. She has been somewhat better, but this may also help us not have to give her Mylicon several times a is supposed to help reduce gas. She was VERY upset when she got her 4 shots today. She didn't recover well from that at all. She screamed all the way out of the doctor's office, out the hospital building and about 10 minutes in the car. She then fell asleep after I gave her some Tylenol and slept for about 2 1/2 hours...while Mommy did some shopping at Target!

All is well and we are still loving life! My baby is getting too big too fast though!! The weather is starting to get pretty outside and Rachel loves being outside....time for some walks!! Here are some pictures from today, including her poor little legs where she got her shots!

A Big Day!

We had a big day today! We had a Sip-N-See baby shower for two girls that I work with that had their second babies (2 boys). It was Brice's birthday and St. Patrick's Day. Of course my diet was completely out the window today, but it is good to stray away every once in awhile. ;) We had 13 kids and 13 adults at the shower this morning and this place was a mad house!!!

But, we did have a blast!

Rachel posed for some pictures in her special 1st St. Patrick's Day outfit. She had to get a picture with Daddy on his birthday! We went out to eat for some Memphis style BBQ - Brice's favorite and then went to Kohl's and got Rachel some socks that actually fit and some outfits that were on sale...they were having a great sale!!! Gotta love that! We have a doctor's appointment next Tuesday so we will post how that goes and see how much "Fatty" weighs!!! I love my girl!

How time flies.....

When you're having fun!!!! We are having a blast! Rachel is yet another month old -4 months and it is so hard to believe that it has been that long. Seems like yesterday we found out we were pregnant when in fact it was almost exactly a year ago.

God has chosen to bless our family in so many ways over this past year. I started my job at the hospital last March and have been there for a year and then at the end of March we found out that we were going to have a baby. I was blessed by finding the best doctor to assist me through my pregnancy and deliver Rachel. I didn't have any morning sickness besides an occasional tummy ache and up until the very end had a delightful pregnancy. The miracle of a baby in utero was a blessing in itself. I loved feeling Rachel move ALL OF THE TIME and although she hurt me constantly, I miss that feeling. Brice is enjoying his job and we were blessed by finding the church where God would have us worship. We have made some very good friends here and although I am still not crazy about living here instead of Arkansas, it was probably one of the best decisions that we have ever made as a couple. In November came the greatest blessing of all....our little girl!! After all of my pregnancy complications, I was completely well in January - around 8 weeks after Rachel was born. Then something "not so great" Papa, the first family member that I was close to, passed away from lung cancer. Although this was a very sad time, I have to believe that this was a blessing in disguise. The reason that I say this is because my granny, my aunts, uncles, cousins, even my great grandmother who hasn't set foot in a church in over 35 years have all joined a local church here and are going together as a family every Sunday!!! Until the day that I die, I will always say that everything happens for a reason and I TRULY believe this. God is GREAT!!! Again....Reason to Rejoice....

We Got a Bumbo Seat!!

Rachel got a Bumbo seat since she can now sit up with assistance!!! She wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but she likes it now. She would much rather sit up than lie down! She's a big girl. We have a high chair/booster seat on order so we used the Bumbo seat this morning for cereal. We are getting the carpets cleaned today so our living room is a little rearranged!

We got the proofs back for our 3 month pictures and they are SOOOOO GOOD!!! We had a hard time choosing but had to keep in mind that we are getting her pictures taken 2 more times before her 1 year pictures, not to mention all of the snapshots that we take!

I can't believe how big she is getting! She will be 16 weeks old tomorrow (which is a hard concept for me...why is it not 4 months???) Well, Brice says that since there are technically not exactly 4 weeks in a month, that we have to still say 3 months until the 14th. ANYWAY, she will be 4 months old on the 14th, but I tell people she is 3 1/2 months until then!! So, my point is, she is getting big and I can't believe how time is flying! You can check out more pictures at

Until next time....
