Completion

Most of my friends that know me well know that I do not finish things.  I find this to be an interesting quirk about myself.  The main reason why I think it is so strange is because I am such a perfectionist and with that being my nature, the tendency would generally be to not start something until it could be done to perfection.  Which, allow me to chase a rabbit for a second, also leads to one of my biggest flaws - procrastination.  I wait until the LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE to meet any deadline because I work better under pressure  dread the long hours working on something until it looks EXACTLY PERFECT - because nothing else will do!  Which then leads to my only other weakness - tardiness.  It kind of reminds me of that one Bible verse - you know the one...let's see...ah, yes - "and suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope...." (Romans 5:4)...except not at all....anyway, where was I?  Oh, me being ...

Nobody's Cuter - Book Review

Image
I  am not a fast reader but I do like to read. Lately, I have read more than I used to. I'm trying because I know there is good stuff out there. The most recent book I read was Nobody's Cuter Than You by Melanie Shankle. I have read her blog for years and find her more than hilarious and enjoyable to read about. This book was an easy read and, for me, just a good, happy book. She talks a lot about her best friend throughout the book but also talks about her groups of friends from childhood, college, and motherhood. Each play a specific role and some overlap. I found a lot of joy in reading how deeply they loved one another through good times and tragic times. If I could pinpoint one quality about myself it would be that I love deeply. I love my family and I love my friends. It takes a lot for me to trust but when I do, I am super loyal and I love something fierce. Along with that, I get hurt very deeply too. It's a chance I take but most of the time, it is wor...

Wordless Wednesday

Image
Okay, ALMOST wordless    I love this picture and I love my friends in this picture. I struggled so much last year trying to "figure out" friendships and God said, "I've got this." He has really blessed me in the area of friends. I have learned that I do not have to have an entire village of close friends, that you will figure out who your real friends are when you trust God with that area of your life, and He is faithful to mend your heart of hurt.  Okay...I need to change the title...not wordless at all...not even a little bit! 😉

The Power of a Testimony

Image
Do not try to hang on to your life.  Give up your life for the sake of Christ.  You will not be sorry you did. Today, I am in a funk.  No reason, really.  I had a great weekend and life is good.  I just can't shake this "yuck" that is clouding my mind.  I began thinking that the best way to curtail this attitude is to meditate on the words of Christ.  I began reading my Bible and started thinking about all that God has been in my life.   I am not sure if I have put my testimony to paper  computer on this blog, but I felt an overwhelming sense that someone needs it today.  WARNING:  This is long! I was born in Texas in the winter of 1980 after what my mom describes as the hottest and most miserable summer to date.  I was the 2nd born to my mother and father as I had an older brother that was 2 years older than me.  My mom was just about two weeks shy of turning 19 the day she had me.  She then had my yo...

Twenty-Five On Tuesday

Just some randomness for you.... I enjoy doing these things from time to time.  Why?  Glad you asked. ;)  I think it is because it makes me think of things that I feel are a little quirky about me.  I like when others have quirky things in common with me.  And, I enjoy sharing myself with others in hopes that they will share with me!!! Tell me some random things about yourself or let me know if you learn something about me that you didn't already know!!! 1.  I love all things peanut butter and chocolate! 2.  I was born in Harlingen, Texas, lived in Texas for 14 years, moved to Arkansas for 11 years and have been back in Texas now for 10 years but still claim to "be from" Arkansas.   3.  I have never been out of the country. 4.  I absolutely HATE the sound of styrofoam!! 5.  I have only been to the beach a handful of times. 6.  I cannot stand anything between my toes (flip flops are an exception). 7.  I ...
